Artist: Kate Nash
Album: My Best Friend Is You
Year: 2010
Label: Fiction
I just discovered Kate Nash recently. I saw her music video of Do-Wah-Doo on Channel [v] and I decided to give her a listen. She released her second album, My Best Friend Is You, on April 19, 2010.
The album is filled with poppy tunes filled with angsty songwriting and vocals by Nash. The album also boasts great production. Nash is really in her zone when she sings songs like Paris and Do-Wah-Doo. Nash’s post-teen angst are really expressed through the songs Don’t You Want to Share The Guilt? and Take Me to A Higher Plane. The most explicit track of the album, Mansion Song, starts off with a minute and a half long rant and later showcases a scream by Nash. The album’s last three songs, which are all beautiful, show Nash’s sensitive and vulnerable side.
Final Word: Though the album has mixed reviews, I honestly think this album is a really good one. For Indie Pop lovers, this album is a must-hear.
Rating: 4/5
Okay, okay, I’ll use the X/5 Rating System rather than rating albums by percent. Bear with me guys.
