Dubbed as the black horse of the competition, Lee DeWyze wins American Idol Season 9.
My bet to win American Idol this season was Crystal Bowersox. It all changed when I saw Lee DeWyze perform Hallelujah. As I was watching him perform, I realized how much he has improved since day one. He grew into me.
The case with Crysal Bowersox was she was consistent since the start of the competition. I wasn’t really seeing too much improvement, maybe because I was already used to seeing her performances when Lee decided to step it up.
Crystal clearly beat Lee in the finale performances, but still, Lee managed to win with just a 2% difference of votes. This was one finale where whoever won, I was fine with it. This season finale is also noted for Paula Abdul’s appearance, wherein she really got everyone’s attention. This season is also Simon Cowel’s last season on the show.
